The Fifth Episode of the season is the mandatory swimsuit episode. Yoshika and Lynne are told that they get to take a trip to the beach! Unfortunately for them, they are made to spend most of the day performing some sort of Combat Water Survival Test. After being informed of this, they are told to go inform Shirley and Lucchini, who are in the hangar. They enter as Shirley is tuning her Striker Units to try and achieve the highest possible speed. They are told Shirley's back story and watch as she tries to set another speed record. The next day, they go to the beach. While taking a much deserved break, Yoshika spots something--Neuroi. Shirley, Lynette and Yoshika scramble to intercept the Neuroi.

Bell X-1 "Glamorous Glennis"

Glamorous Glennis

The Bell X-1, originally designed XS-1, was a supersonic research project and the first aircraft to exceed the speed of sound in controlled, level flight. This resulted in the first of the so-called X-planes, an American series of experimental aircrafts designated for testing of new technologies and usually kept highly secret.

On October 14, 1947, the Bell X-1 became the first airplane to fly faster than the speed of sound. Piloted by US Air Force Capt. Charles E. "Chuck" Yeager, the X-1 reached a speed of 1,127 kilometers (700 miles) per hour. Mach 1.06 at an altitude of 13,000 meters (43,000 feet). Yeager named the airplane "Glamorous Glennis" in tribute to his wife.
