Yoshika fears for the worst.
Mio Sakamoto charges towards the Neuroified Yamato, but is halted by Minna at gunpoint. Mio says she's the only one able to go since she is the only one with magic left to restart the Yamato's core. Minna reluctantly allows her to go, but orders her to come back safely. Asking for one last favor from her Striker Unit, Mio resumes her flight to the Neuroified Yamato. Inside, as she begins to restart the core her Striker Unit starts becoming Neuroified, but she refuses to give up. The magic charge works, and the Neuroified Yamato is able to use its main artillery on the Hive, causing a huge explosion. But, as the smoke clears, it emerges that a giant core has formed in its place together with smaller Neuroi craft. Mio is fused with the core, unconscious. This allows the core to project Fuso Shields, rendering the attacks from the fleet useless.
After momentary panic, Yoshika decides to take flight to save Mio even though she is low on magic power. The other witches are inspired by this and cover her as she flies in. Yoshika draws Reppumaru out of the deck of the Yamato, and uses True Reppuzan to bypass the shields and destroy the core, freeing Major Sakamoto. But in exchange for using True Reppuzan, Yoshika uses up all her magic power. Unable to fly, Mio and Yoshika tumble towards earth, and are caught and hugged by their comrades in mid-air. Smiling, Yoshika says that she has no regrets about losing her power, since she was able to protect everyone. The scene turns to Raisa as she sits with a friend of hers. There are cameos by other witches (even Hanna), then Yoshika is shown at the Miyafuji Clinic where she is making do with conventional medicine to heal the same bird that Micchan found in the first season.

Formation Victor -- The basic flight formation for military aircraft in many air forces during World War II was a V formation. In the U.S. Army Air Forces, the most basic formation for bombers was a three-plane "V" called an "element". Stacks of these elements were configured to form a defensive bombing formation called the "combat box". The standard fighter unit, early in World War II, for the British Royal Air Force was the V shaped "vic". This involved one lead plane and two wingmen, with the wingmen flying very close to the sides and slightly behind the lead plane to form the V shape. Typically four vics would fly together one after another to form a squadron. The problem with the vics were the formations were so tight that the wingmen had to constantly be watching the lead plane or risk running into them. This left only the lead plane to search the skies for enemy planes. After many complaints from the British pilots of the vics not being the optimal flying formation, the RAF Fighter Command changed the squadron formation so the fourth vic would weave back and forth theoretically giving them a better field of view. This resulted in the "weavers" as they were called being picked off because the German fighters could attack them and get away before the rest of the squadron could leave formation and be ready for a counterattack. The Germans called these vics Idiotenreihen ("rows of idiots"). Later in the war the RAF Fighter Command abandoned the vic formations in favor of the Finger-four formation that the German Air Force used.
